Shazmin Hussein lives and works in Vancouver, BC. With a keen eye for posture and the female figure, Shazmin’s history in modelling and makeup artistry has informed her vibrant and playful compositions. Her figurative yet abstract acrylic paintings express the beauty of the female figure, drawing the viewer’s attention to their formative and differentiating curves. Her colourful palette lives in harmony with dark tones, bold patterns, and structured lines. Inspired by abstract expressionism and cubism, Shazmin’s bright acrylics guide us to look deeper into society’s ideals of feminine beauty, embrace our differences and what it means to own our individuality.

Alongside her painting practice, Shazmin works as a photographer and creative director. Through her studio, Les Yeux, she shapes visual stories for musicians and brands across music, fashion and beauty, bringing the same eye for colour, composition and detail to every project.
